Nele Putz studied art history and English literature at the Universities of Hamburg, Eichstätt, Munich and the École Normale Supérieure, Paris. After research periods in London, New York, Rochester and Paris funded by the German National Academic Foundation, she held positions as lecturer at the Paris-Lodron-University Salzburg and Scientific Coordinator at the German Center for Art History, Paris. Nele’s main research interests lie in the field of transmediality, portrait theory and the history of photography and fashion. Her dissertation project focuses on expatriate American artists and the construction of identity and situatedness in portraiture around 1900. Nele joined the research training Group ‘Practicing Place’ in March 2021, taking up the position of Scientific Coordinator.
